Our commitment

Tuition Extra is committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment in which all children and young people can thrive. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our organisation.

Our safeguarding arrangements meet the requirements of the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), and Working Together to Safeguard Children. All provision is OFSTED-aligned.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

A qualified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is available across all provision. Our DSL holds the relevant Level 3 safeguarding training and refreshes this on a regular cycle.

All referrals, concerns, and disclosures are handled in line with statutory guidance and reported to relevant authorities where required.

Safer recruitment

All staff and volunteers are subject to thorough safer recruitment checks, including enhanced DBS disclosure, reference verification, and identity confirmation. No member of staff begins working unsupervised with children before checks are complete.

Single Central Record is maintained and up to date at all times.

Training

All staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role on induction and at regular intervals thereafter. Our whole team is trained in the Thrive approach, which incorporates an understanding of adverse childhood experiences and trauma-informed practice.

Reporting and information sharing

We work collaboratively with schools, local authorities, and other professionals. Where a safeguarding concern arises, we follow the agreed escalation pathways and inform relevant partners in a timely manner.

Information is shared appropriately and proportionately, in line with GDPR and statutory guidance.
