Safeguarding

Safety is the foundation.

Every child in our care is safe. Safeguarding runs through everything we do — in our policies, our team training, our environments, and our relationships.

A whole-organisation commitment

Safeguarding children is the responsibility of every member of our organisation, regardless of role. This belief is embedded in our induction, our training, our day-to-day practice, and our organisational culture.

Our safeguarding arrangements meet the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Working Together to Safeguard Children, and the Children Acts 1989 and 2004.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead

A qualified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is in post across all Tuition Extra provision. Our DSL holds Level 3 safeguarding training and is refreshed on a regular cycle. Deputy DSLs are also trained and available when the lead is unavailable.

Safer recruitment

All staff, volunteers, and regular visitors are subject to enhanced DBS disclosure and identity checks before beginning work with children. Our Single Central Record is maintained and reviewed regularly. References are taken up and verified before appointments are confirmed.

Training

Every member of our team receives safeguarding training on induction, with regular refresher training thereafter. Our Thrive training provides an additional layer of understanding around adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and the presentations that can arise from these.

Reporting concerns

Any concern about a child's welfare is taken seriously and responded to promptly. We follow agreed protocols for reporting to children's services and, where appropriate, to the police. We act in the child's best interests at all times.

For professionals

We work collaboratively with other agencies involved in a child's care. Our DSL is available to speak with social workers, designated teachers, and other professionals as required.

Detailed safeguarding policies are available on request. Please email info@tuition-extra.co.uk.
